Brooke Collard joins us to talk life growing up as a Jehovahs witness, to now being a super talented up and coming film writer/ producer being named a “ One to watch “ by screen producers Australia 2021.
My sis Brooke is a proud Ballardong/Whadjuk Noogar women from WA, who I was privileged enough to work with on a project in Mparntwe. Brooke yarns about her award-winning short doco “ Aboriginal warrior “ which Brooke wrote and produced. Along with Aboriginal warrior, Brooke is working on the video game “Broken Heads” and her own web series called Yokai about a first Nations Cosplayer, which stems from Brookes love for Cosplay.
Watch this space, Brooke is killing it, constantly creating and developing new projects and ideas.

This week on MobTalk Talia is joined by Key facilitator of Heaps Decent Adam Bozzettoo. Heaps Decent is a non-for profit organisation which empowers young people to express their creativity through music and multi-media. Adam and Talia yarn about the importance of empowering young people through the music and arts. We often use music in our own way to connect with how we feel. Heaps decent gives young people from all walks of life a tool to help express what lies within them. Listen in to hear some incredible stories of young people and there musical talents, all the way from juvenile centres to pre-school kids.
Everyone has a story, the sooner we start investing in our young people, the more change we will see in the world. Adam yarns about seeing Kobie Dee as a young fella in Redfern grow into the strong Aboriginal musician he is today, with the help of youth centres and works to guide and support him.

Nowra artist discusses the story behind his “uncle” relationship with the Kid Laroi, how Nooky snuck Laroi into his first Naidoc show where Laroi had his first performance and blew everyone’s mind. DJ PGZ ( Paul Gorrie ) who I like to call LIL P GEEZZZZZY, jumps in on MobTalk to yarn with your girl T. Paul is a Gunai/Kurnai and Yorta man based on the Wurundjeri Country of the Kulin Nations. PGZ is known for his love in the music scene having done mixes with Bizarro, Triple J - Mix Up, Butter Sessions and has just released his Apple Music session, which is truly a good time if you love the techno scene. He is also part of a BLK DUO Bad Kind of Good throwing a new party here in Naarm called BLK ICE which centres Black DJs and experimental performers and artists, while also programming at Rising Festival in the Music Program team.

This week Ben Long jumps on MobTalk to yarn about his journey from being a young Anmatyerre/muk muk maranungu man kicking the footy and fishing with cousins to then fast forward years later, being flown to Melbourne Grammar on a sports scholarship only to then be drafted to the Saints. With Cyril Rioli being Long's older cousin, it was only natural for Ben to be a mad hawks supporter; however Ben now discusses his love for the Saints, proudly bleeding the colours of red, white and black. Long discusses the importance the club holds on mental health and how the saints have often looked to Long in regards to trips up north back on country. Although Long is deadly on the field, he discusses his life off the football field where his love for fishing and family come into play.
